A female banker with the United Bank for
Africa, Damilola Sowemimo, was on Sunday
killed by two gunmen operating on a
motorcycle.
Metro learnt that Sowemimo, 25, was killed
while going to church in the morning. It
was also learnt that she was killed in front
of her parent’s house at 1, Agbor Close, Isolo
Way, Ajao Estate.
A friend of the deceased, Tosin Adeboye,
told our correspondent that the gunmen
came on a commercial motorcycle.
She said, “On Sunday morning, Damilola
(Sowemimo) was going to church. Her
friends had parked on the other side of the
road and she was attempting to cross when
two men on a motorcycle appeared from
nowhere.
“The bandits came down from the bike,
snatched her phone and ransacked her bag.
When they did not see any valuables in her
bag, they got angry and shot her in the neck
before speeding off.”
It was gathered that the deceased was
immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but
later gave up the ghost as she bled
profusely.
Sowemimo attended Federal Government
Girls’ College, Oyo, and later went to Bowen
University, Iwo, Osun State, where she
studied Microbiology.
